About Us


At NUH clinical research is an integral part of our activities and contributes to the advancement and generation of new knowledge to improve and provide patient care of the highest quality.

The Office of Biomedical Research (OBR) was officially set up in March 2001. It develops and administers policies and programmes to facilitate relevant and ethical research in NUH.

· To promote a vibrant research culture in NUH by enhancing and facilitating interaction between investigators in different disciplines

· To support & groom young investigators through mentorship and start-up programmes

· To support and strengthen local and overseas research collaborations with universities, research institutes, industry and other hospitals

· To direct and develop core infrastructure projects and medical informatics systems that will position NUH as the key Hub for Translational Research in Singapore

· To conduct and support Health Services Research on organisational structure processes and health technologies, to improve access to health care, the quality and cost of health care

· Administer grant applications for the principal investigators/researchers

· Administrative support for ethics review of research proposals and clinical trials

· Administrative support for review and negotiation of clinical trials agreements, research collaboration agreements and material transfer agreements with pharmaceutical companies and research collaborators respectively.

· Coordinate and facilitate research related activities and events organised by NUH

· Facilitate clinician led specialty specific health services research projects
