Intellectual Property
"Imagination is more important than knowledge" Albert Einstein
Intellectual property (IP) refers to creation of the mind. IP through the inventions and creations holds enormous potential for improving and enriching our daily lives.
As NUH's research in the field of Biomedical Sciences gain momentum with the Singapore's national thrust to develop the life sciences industry, identified as Singapore's 4th pillar of economy, and the emergence of Biopolis in 2003, the need for an Intellectual Property management system at NUH comes into greater prominence.
The Office of Biomedical Research has been tasked to set up an intellectual property management policy which would facilitate the creation, protection and exploitation of IP arising from research at NUH.
It is envisaged that the commercial exploitation of such IP would be channeled back into NUH in support of further relevant research in the field of Biomedical Sciences.
