| RESEARCH OVERSIGHT COMMITTEE |
Introduction
The Research Oversight Committe (ROC) is the committee that sets research strategy, direction and broad policies in NUH and approves yearly budget on grant and research activities.
ROC, through the NUH Endowment Fund, has funded a number of key programmes, including:
Clinical Trials Unit
Tumor/Tissue bank
Research Scientists programme
Research Training Grants
Paramedical Training Grants etc.
The ROC recommends the projects while a separate Research Grant Committee decides on the grant amounts. ROC funds are granted on a competitive basis and are intended as a start-up fund for young investigators for the initial 2-3 years. Investigators are strongly encouraged to seek external funding wherever possible.
The Office of Biomedical Research administers the ROC grants, which includes budgeting and projection of spending, monitoring progress of projects through annual reports and overall administrative support.
Accounting support is provided by Endowment Fund department.
